An imperial staircase with a circular outline, it takes its inspiration from French art nouveau architecture, like the rest of the décor. Palacio Longoria (Madrid, Spain) was built between 1902 and 1904 by José Grases Riera (1850–1919). A Catalan architect born in Barcelona, he graduated from the School of Architecture in Barcelona in 1878 and moved to Madrid shortly after. Through to the turn of the century he worked on residential projects, and proposed a realignment of the entire city, the Proyecto de Gran Vía Norte-Sur, which was not adapted but influenced the subsequent urban planning in the city. The building is located in number 4 Calle de Fernando Vl, in the Malassaña district. Nearest Metro station is Alonso Martinez. Inside the building the main staircase is a particularly striking feature #artnouveaudotclub #PalaciodeLongoria #PalacioLongoria #modernismo #descubriendoMadrid #estaes_madrid #ig_madrid #igers #inspiramemadrid #loves_madrid #loves_spain #Madrid #madrid_monumental #madridmemata #spain #monumentalspain #ok_madrid #ok_spain_#paseandoporMadrid #photo #artnouveau #themadridbible #josegrases #joségrases #archilovers #total_madrid #follow

This colorful art nouveau (Jugendstil) house is located at number 22 Ainmillerstrasse street in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. The house was designed by Ernst Haigerand and Henry Helbig in 1898 and they interplayed of organic lines with sharp verticals. Egyptian-style masks and golden flowers also adorn the facade. Munich is best known for its beer and the Oktoberfest. But there is the bohemian side of Bavaria’s capital: An almost unparalleled wealth of fascinating Art Nouveau houses are scattered throughout the city. A wonder in itself, because Munich suffered severe damage during WWI, and so much of its ancient past has been lost after the bombings. Interior design decoration to be found inside the Municipal House, Prague, Czech Republic. This was one of the first buildings in the city to be equipped with central heating and ventilation, a drinking and utility water-supply system, electrical as well as hydraulic elevators, a steam-powered laundry and an intercom network. Art nouveau arrived at a time of a new culture of cosmopolitan entertainment, enthusiastic consumption, new opportunities for travel and leisure, and an array of modern technological conveniences that arose at the turn-of-century #prague #prag #praha #praga #czechrepublic #czech #artnouveaudotclub #design #photo #art #designer #circle #wall #travel #europe #style #decorative #decoration #follow

This House on Saint-Jacques Place astounds with its huge windows and blue façade in Metz, France. Because of 47 years of german occupation Art Nouveau in Metz is more german- influenced and often described as Jugendstil. Now the building is a branch of BNP Paribas company. During the years that art nouveau was flourishing Metz was a German city. A little bit of history "... After the defeat of France during the Franco-Prussian War and according to the Treaty of Frankfurt of 1871, the city was annexed into the German Empire, being part of the Imperial Territory of Alsace-Lorraine and serving as capital of the German Department of Lorraine. Metz remained German until the end ofWorld War I, when it reverted to France..." #metz #metzart #artnouveaudotclub #artnouveau #architecture #metz#france #travel #architecturelovers @pompidoumetz @ville_de_metz #europe #door #house #jugenstil #house #door #window #french #francia #frança Pic by @monaisarozek
